All Symbian S60v3 phones with Built-in
GPS Receiver
e.g. Nokia 6110, 6210, E90, N82, N95, N96 etc.
Accessing built-in GPS receiver on Symbian
S60v3 phones (e.g. N95) requires the Location
capability, which in turn requires a signed sis setup
file with a proper certificate (DevCert, etc) due to Platform
Security restrictions.
You can obtain such a signed version of Efficasoft GPS Utilities
to access the built-in GPS receiver on your phone through
the few easy steps below.
- Download the UNSIGNED version of Efficasoft GPS Utilities
for Symbian setup file from http://www.efficasoft.com/gpsutilities/index_sym_download.html
- Go to https://www.symbiansigned.com
and click [Open Signed Online]
- Fill in the form as below.
a. Dial *#06# on your phone to find out the IMEI number.
b. Enter a valid email address to receive confirmation
emails & final download link.
c. Click browse and select the GPS Utilities setup file
downloaded in Step 1.
d. Select the capabilities as in the picture.
e. Type in the security code and tick the [Accept legal
agreement] check box.
f. Finally, click the [Send] button.
- You will receive an email like the one below in just
a few minutes.
- Click the [Confirmation link] in the email, you will
be directed to the Symbian Signed web site.
- You will receive the second email a few minutes later
containing the [Download link] to your SIGNED version
of Efficasoft GPS Utilities for Symbian setup file.
- Click the [Download link] and save the signed file somewhere
on your disk.
- You can now use the signed setup file to install Efficasoft
GPS Utilities for Symbian to your phone.
How to connect Built-in GPS Receiver.
- Launch GPS Utilities.
- Open 'Menu/Options', select the 'GPS' tab.
- Select 'Search', GPS Utilities will start searching
receivers.
- Select 'Location API/Built-in GPS Receiver' by pressing
the Action/OK key.
- Select 'Back'.
And you are ready to 'Start GPS'!
